Call for Alumni for Autumn National Session Announced!

The European Youth Parliament United Kingdom is delighted to announce the Call for Officials for its Autumn National Session 2013!
The Session is being presided by James Benge (UK), and will take place between the 11th and 15th of September 2013. The Session will be held at Liverpool Hope University, in the city of Liverpool, and is being Head Organised by Laura Hibberd and Genevieve Shorthouse.

Summer National Session Team Announced

National Session Presidents Announced & Summer Alumni Call Opens

EYPUK is delighted to announce that Monica Moisin (RO) and James Benge (UK) have been selected to preside the EYPUK National Sessions 2013. Monica will be leading the Summer National Session this July and James the Autumn National Session in September, both events will take place at Liverpool Hope University.
We would like to thank all those who applied for the roles, the selection panel noted the excellent quality of the applications received. Our congratulations go to Monica and James.

Northern Ireland Regional Forum

The 2013 Northern Ireland Regional Forum took place on Thursday 21st March at the Belfast Metropolitan College, located in Belfast’s newly developed Titanic Quarter. Taking part were five schools from across Northern Ireland, comprising of Ballymena Academy, Dalriada Grammar School, Royal Belfast Academical Institution, Thornhill College and Victoria College. The day began with welcomes from Catriona Hughes, a key figure in the establishment and organisation of EYP across Northern Ireland for many years, and Alastair Payne, who was presiding the forum.

West Scotland Regional Forum

On Friday the 15th of March, the Glasgow City Halls, famed for their  iconic musical history, was introduced to 64 pupils from 4 schools around the West of Scotland, all buzzing with the EYP bug and all hopeful of winning a place at the National Sessions of EYP United Kingdom. Thames Valley Regional Forum

On Wednesday the 13th of March, eight schools had the opportunity to debate current European concerns at the prestigious Oxford Union.  Shortly after the schools were welcomed to the session by Head Organisers Josh Leyden & Patrick O’Kane, the Thames Valley Regional session began in earnest. A short address was delivered by the President of the Session, Callum MacGregor,  who later described the day as, “exactly what an EYPUK Regional should be: an excellent standard of debate with plenty of humour thrown in!” Callum successfully encouraged delegates to embrace EYP …

South East Regional Forum

Fifty-six pupils, seven schools, one day. This was the first 2013 EYP South East Regional Forum in a nutshell. The organiser, Laura Hibberd, worked hard to organise the Forum at the European Commission representation in London, providing A-level students with the opportunity to improve their research, team-work and public-speaking skills. Sophie Duffield replaced her during the session while she was sitting an exam and made sure everything ran smoothly.

Call for National Session Presidents

The European Youth Parliament United Kingdom is delighted to announce its Presidential Call for its Summer and Autumn National Sessions 2013, to take place in Liverpool between the 3rd and 7th July and the 11th and 15th September respectively.

East Anglia Regional Forum Review!

On the 6th March the East Anglia Regional Forum took place in the wonderful Cambridge Union for the second time. We started the day off with an insightful speech from President Ian Chisholm about the skills and opportunities he’s gained from being a part of European Youth Parliament. This was followed by the President-elect of Cambridge Union Joel Fenster who highlighted the importance of the EU membership but addressed how debate could benefit Europe and push for improvements.

Just when stability seemed closer than ever, last month saw alarming Eurozone statistics – for the first time since 2009, the Eurozone found itself in economic recession.
In December 2008, EU leaders agreed on a €200 billion stimulus plan to help boost European growth following the global financial crisis, which obviously impacted on Europe significantly.
